Avalanche and Inundation

Turner 's Snow-storm, avalanche and inundation - a scene in the upper part of Val d'Aout, Piedmont, oil on canvas, R.A. 1837, B.I. 1841, Art Institute of Chicago ( Wilton P371). The detailed comments here suggest that Ruskin must have seen this picture in Turner's gallery, although it seems to have been bought by the Birmingham collector Joseph Gillott in March 1845, and there are no subsequent comments in Ruskin's works.
