This has proved to be the most challenging area of the project to complete, principally because the ill-health of the first Consultant Textual Editor and the inherent difficulties in continuity associated in having three successive scholars in this pivotal role. The collations team have done an immense amount of work in difficult circumstances and have delivered the complete collations of Modern Painters I. The unavoidable delay in the area of collations has meant that the annotations contributors have not been able to take account of differences between editions (see a later release).
