LAN Plan for Summer LAN 2

  • Pub Quiz, e.g League of Legends
  • Detroit: Become Human stream
  • League Realms, tandem 1v1 games
  • Bingo
  • Colouring competition, possibly League of Legends themed with porros
  • Minecraft competitions might have to use vanilla Minecraft
    • House building competition
    • Hunger Games mode
  • Potentially stream Jackbox? Would need heavy monitoring
  • Potentially invite other societies
  • Custom games of games such as Overwatch
  • Might look into an on-screen LAN chat to increase member engagement during LANs

Mubarak Salawu

  • Role – General Secretary
    • Handle membership
    • Makes newsletters
  • Motivations:
    • Help and make things better
  • Goals:
    • Find out why people don’t go to socials and I wanna make everyone happy.
  • Issues:
    • ISS Spam Censorship
    • Myself

Ben Cowling

  • Role – Vice President
  • Motivations:
    • Help the Society realise it’s full potential
  • Goals:
    • Became a Committee member because LUGES has potential as a platform for gaming events
  • Issues:
    • Committee members aren’t helpful, they need focus and direction, along with fewer tangents

Brent Oates

  • Role – President
    • “Babysitting duty”
  • Motivations:
    • Need to “fix” the Society
    • Feels like we are moving backwards, not growing
  • Goals:
    • Make things better, for example, punctuality
    • Make socials better
    • Improve relations with the Union
  • Issues:
    • Committee members not here on time

Josh Brown

  • Role – Treasurer
    • Finance and bank keeping
  • Motivations:
    • Wants something to do
    • “Here cause I’m here”
  • Goals:
    • Do better at account keeping
  • Issues:
    • None

James Bulman

  • Role – Engagement Officer
    • Ensure events are well publicised
    • Hype up events
    • Organise events
    • Ensure people feel welcome
  • Motivations:
    • Help other people that may have anxieties about University life, similar to how the “society helped him”
  • Goals:
    • Wants things to be more connected, currently sees a bunch of small groups
    • Wants people to be social at social events
  • Issues:
    • Fear of denial of new ideas

Jack Holden

  • Role – Equipment and Safety Officer
    • Keep everyone safe
    • Procure new equipment
  • Motivations:
    • The Committee can be “messy” at times and believes that he can make things better
  • Goals:
    • Keep equipment from getting damaged
  • Issues:
    • None

Katie Stevenson

  • Role – Engagement Officer
    • Creating more socials
    • Reaching out to other societies
    • General engagement, member retention
  • Motivations:
    • Leaning more towards Social Secretary role
    • Help people through tough times
  • Goals:
    • Member retention
    • Make Freshers Fair as fun as possible
  • Issues:
    • Wants more variety in socials
    • Can be hard to retain new members

Ryan Tracey

  • Role – Esports Co-ordinator
    • Manage Esports events and tournaments
  • Motivations:
    • Wanted to help represent the FPS side of Esports
  • Goals:
    • Help represent the FPS side of Esports
  • Issues:
    • Equipment, need more facilities

Karen Cheung

  • Role – Esports Co-ordinator
    • Manage Esports events and tournaments
  • Motivations:
    • Wants to make the Society more inclusive
    • Freshers LAN was awkward and would like to change that
  • Goals:
    • Bridge gap between gaming and Esports
    • Feels that Esports side of the Society don’t seem to like us very much as we don’t seem to provide them with anything and would like to fix this
  • Issues:
    • Esports captains and Committee members don’t really know each other
      • Would need more engagement/introductions

Annual LUGES BBQ

James will be bringing food to the BBQ

Plan on playing Two Rooms and a Boom

Pendle Games Night

Plan to talk to Senet to ask them to join the Society at the next Pendle Games Night social

Committee feedback states that the Pendle Games Night socials are not very fun and are leaning on the anti-social side

Considering having Beat Saber at the Pendle Game Night socials, however, this would be limited to only one person at a time
