Newsletter Week 4, 19-20

Greetings LUGES members. It is I, the best worst most mediocre General Secretary, ready to create another newsletter of the same quality. Big shout out to anyone that still getting these newsletters because, seeing as temporary memberships expired sometime last week, it means that everyone here has actually paid for membership, becoming a fully LUGES member. Unless you’ve managed to hack the Students’ Union’s database to add yourself to the LUGES group in which case, I must ask why you chose LUGES over literally any other society. But I digress.
(P.S. you also get a surprise for paying the membership fee. No seriously, it’s like two paragraphs down)

And now for the moment you’ve all been waiting for and the only part of the newsletter that people actually read (if any), the event line-up:
Smash Weeklies – Monday, 6 pm – 10 pm, BNSR 21. My favourite Smash Bros. character is the guy from the ‘It’s free real estate’ meme. (Shout out Henry for the meme suggestion this week) Who’s yours?
County Social –Tuesday, 8 pm – 11 pm, County Bar. Yes, we’re finally going to do fighting games for this week’s County Social. And yes, we probably would have Smash Bros. But we’ll have other stuff too so come along anyway.
Michaelmas LAN 1 – Saturday, 12 pm – Sunday, 3 am, BNSR 9-11. Hey, remember when we stuck ourselves in the Bowland North Seminar Rooms and did nothing but play video games and eat pizza during Freshers’ Week for an unholy amount of time? Well, we’re doing it again but this time for a less unholy amount of time and we’ll have a general meeting where you can vote on things for the Constitution. We’ve even got a channel made where you can It’s still most likely going to be cursed though.

Regarding future events, we’ll have a Wetherspoons Social next Thursday at 7 pm in, you guessed it, Wetherspoons (the one in Lancaster because I know at least one person reading this didn’t know one existed, it’s OK). We’re trying something new and having a social on in Wetherspoons where you can do… Wetherspoons stuff? I’ve never been to Wetherspoons. But there’s a first time for everything if not so I’ll be coming anyway, and you should too.

Bailrigg 9 is coming up really soon, November 9th in Welcome Lecture Theatre 1 so make sure you’ve registered for that. Also here comes that surprise I mentioned in 2 paragraphs ago. As everyone receiving this email is a full member, I can now disclose the super-secret Bailrigg discount code that you can, and should, use when you register for Bailrigg 9 here https://smash.gg/tournament/bailrigg-9 The code for the discount which should be an £8 reduction is [REDACTED].

Yikes, that was a long one,
Mo – LUGES General Secretary
