Esports – Roses
- Need to wait for people to sign up for the CS:GO Team
- Overwatch isn’t happening at Roses
- Dota – 2 teams but not everyone can go to York so will most likely merge the two teams.
- League – 3 teams but will mainly be the A team going to York for Roses
- Tickets will most likely not be free this year
- If we’re are allowed ties for Roses, then Smash will go for points otherwise it will be an exhibition match in Roses.
- Might start at 12:30 roughly if Smash is worth points
Would like to participate in the Red Bull and Street Fighter cross over event next winter, but need more information on scale. The Students’ Union may not agree with the event.
Went over Engagement Officer Role for new executives (James)
Interested in having an event similar to Society Sunday without the involvement of the Student Union with other societies, similar to GeekFest.
Decided to have 2 LANs next term, preferably later in the year.
Looking into a social with Pulsar, should look into a making a Facebook group with all significant exec from other societies at the uni to help plan collaborative events – “Council of Geeks”
Pendle Socials for next term but less frequent to allow for revision for exams. Would make a survey for the summer term weeks to see when people are available.
Community Reps
- Community rep system is working at the moment but still need more reps. May also make polls for seeing what people are interested in
- May also look into not using polls to for everything as this is not wholly representative of the society
Tuesday Socials
- Need to make Tuesday socials better
- Themed events seem to be popular
- Need to focus on maybe playing more relevant/newer games
- Perhaps reintroduce quizzes or mini-tournaments
- Tuesday socials ‘teetering between being a chill social and being a gaming tournament’
- Should also focus more on multi-player couch co-op games with a quick turn-over
- Might use the main projector mainly for co-op games instead of focusing on Smash
- Possible games include:
- Frog climbers
- Track Mania
Publicity
- Execs need to post on social media more frequently
- Good for publicity
