Which generally they received this doctrine, and most was there convinced that day, y:e meetting very peaceable, and so I spoke about three hours and broke up the meetting in peace; and there followed mee an Old professor praysing mee and the doctrine; though his spirit was like a steeple ___    And so I turned to him and bid him fear the lord; and there was a priest said I should not Judg; and there were 4 priests came when the meetting was done; and one of them fell into dispute, and one of their mouthes was quickly stopped, after > hee was proved by Scripture y:t hee was found in y:e stepps of y:e false Prophetts and shutt out from the true, hee was quickly gone ___    And then there was another who had three steeplehouses, who was of y:t parish hee fell to disputeing & wrangling and contrary to y:e witnesse of God in his own conscience; in somuch as his own people rose ag:t him his own hearers; but at last they fled and people passed away greatly satisfied and rejoyced in it; and the

And the first day after I passed to Cockermouth steeple house in y:e fore=
noone; and when y:e priest had done being a great parish I spoke to him &
the people and proved him in y:e stepps of all y:e false Prophetts and hyre-
lings; and so hee said, y:t I said hee was an Hyreling, and so fled his
way and left his flock; and severall soldio:rs were wth mee; wch were
convinced at y:e meetting before; and the people was rude and they
cryed they had y.e law on their side, wch silenced y.e people, & so truth was
