(54) to ye Lorde: & ye place was neere Jo: Blayklinges where

And ye next day wee passed on: & att night wee gott a litle

farnes ʌ & lay vpon a Common: &: ye next daye ʌmorninge

Soe I Came vpp wensydale: & att ye markett toune
in yet dale there was a lecture on ye markett day: soe
I went Into ye steeplehouse & after ye preist had donne
I declared ye day of ye Lorde to y^e preists and people: & turnd
y.^m from ye darknesse to ye light & from ye powr of Sathan
vnto God y^t: they might come to God & Xts teachinge
freely: & declared freely & largely ye worde of life to
X ye people X & had not much persecution: & after passt
vppe ye dales: warninge people to fear God & declaring
his truth to y:^m & att last I came to a great house
where there was a schoolemaster & they gott mee Into
ye house & I declared ye truth to y.^m & askinge ym
questions about there religions & worshipps. & they
* had mee Into a parlor & lockt mee in: & saide
there I was a younge man y^t was madd & was gott
away from his my relations & they woulde keepe him mee
till they coulde sende to my relations but I con=
=vinced y.^m of y^t: & they lett mee foorth: & they would
haue had mee to haue stayde: but I was not
to stay: but admonished y:^m & turned ym to ye
light of God Xt by w^ch: they might come to see there
saluation; soe
soe in ye night I Came to a litle alehouse
where there was ʌa company drinkeinge & because I woulde
not drinke with y.^m they gott vppe Clubbs: & was

[page 27] and then I passed away; and came to a house, and the man would have given mee money; and I was moved to shake my hand at it and bidd him mind the lord, and Christ the teacher in him, for hee was comeing to bring them off of all y:^e worlds teachers; and the lord would teach his people him selfe;
and so I passed away being among y:^e fell Countreys, and lay out all night, and a stranger,
and so y:^e next day I passed upp to a Market town; upon a Markett day, and spoke to y:^e people, and bid them repent; and take heed of deceitfull Merchandize; and worshipp God in the spirit and truth
and so I passed away upp winsadayle, and declared the truth through all y:^e townes as I went, and people took mee for a madd man and distracted and some followed mee and questioned w^th mee and was astonished,



& there followed mee a schoolemaster and gote mee into a house and thought I had been a young man y:^t was gone away distracted y^t: was gone away [page 28] from my parents and thought to have kept mee;



but they being astonished at my answer and the truth I spoke to them they could not tell what to say, and would have had mee to have staid all night; but I was - not to stay
but passed away, and wandred in y:^e night, and at last I came to an ale house, where there was some fellows drinking and I walked up and down in y:^e house and after a time they beganne to drink to mee, and then I spake to them the truth and warning them of y:^e mighty day of y:^e lord y:^t was comeing and bid them take heed to that w^ch sheewed them sin and evill in their hearts; upon w^ch one rose ag:^t mee w^th a clubb,
