The 2008 European Capital of Culture looks like being a resounding success after the VSBs played live in Liverpool this weekend. While one of the singers was drinking-all that the mayor of Lancaster had to offer instead of performing, her absence was made up by the guest appearance of the Spanish bastido, Don Roberto Ashworth - Bobby-Joe to his friends.
In keeping with tradition the drummer arrived fashionably late after her pilgrimage to the lost souls of Anfield and the Albert Docks. Eventually the band did manage to shut-up the DJ as they played some of rock-n-roll's greatest songs.
It is now rumoured that the Mayor of Linz is desperate to ensure that The Very Sad Bastards are enticed to Austria in 2009.
