Dr Chatterjee joined Lancaster University Law School in 2001, following an undergraduate degree in Law at Leicester University. A subsequent scholarship to study at Brunel University in London enabled her to pursue an LL.M in Child Law and Policy, where her Masters thesis focused on the rise of Child Pornography as a Legal Concept. In 2002 she was awarded a Ph.D from Brunel for her thesis on Cyberpornography, Cyberidentity and Law.

Her most recent work is on writing the legal body, published in the Australian Feminist Law Journal.
