My name is Matt and I am from Kent. I graduated from the University of Bath in 2016 with an MPhys in Physics, having written a dissertation in statistical mechanics titled “A comparison of how optimization by Kinetic Monte Carlo effects the folding of proteins of various lengths”. Following this I spent two years working at an independent school in the Cotswolds, where my time was spent working in a boarding house and teaching physics. In 2018, I then decided to convert to mathematics and returned to Bath for an MSc in Modern Applications of Mathematics, having written a dissertation involving geometric probability in partnership with Pepsi-co. After completing my MSc I joined STOR-i and am keen to explore all of the academic opportunities it has to offer.

In my free time I enjoy a narrow variety of activities. I enjoy watching films, my favourite directors include Christopher Nolan, Quentin Tarantino and Martin Scorsese. I also enjoy listening to music, and have very much enjoyed Lancaster’s vibrant local music culture. In addition to this I am a fan of cooking and eating large amounts of meat.
