  • PhD project: Evolution of statistical earthquake models to account for measurement errors and dependence

There have been numerous strategies proposed and developed to lower CO2 emissions within the environment, but Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) systems have been identified as one of the most effective strategies. To enable a safe growth of such geological formations, any dangers over the linked induced seismic activity should first be evaluated. This evaluation requires extending existing approaches for assessing the potential hazards of tectonic earthquakes and earthquakes caused by gas extraction……

  • MSc Project: Climate data trend analysis

With the frequent occurrence of climate-induced natural disasters in recent years, research on climate change is urgently needed. To get a better understanding of how climate change is developing, statisticians over the past several decades have proposed various statistical methods to quantify the climate change problem. For example, models for estimating climate trends were introduced and other trend-feature detection approaches were developed……

  • Summer Research Project: Reduction of general graphs using minimum number of edges

Graphs with highly connected nodes are widely used in various application, the complexity of which makes it difficult to read and digest. Edge compression offers a tool to re-organize the structure of the graph through clustering the nodes which shares the similar neighbors in one supernode, by doing so, we could reduce the
number of edges while without losing any details(connections)……
