Confucius Institute at Blackpool Career Options Event
28 & 29 January 2014
On January 28 and 29, Lancaster University Confucius Institute and the Department of European Languages and Cultures took part in the Blackpool Career Options event where Year 9 pupils from eight local high schools explored further studies, apprenticeships and work.
Students tried calligraphy and paper-cutting and chatted about studying French, Spanish, German, Polish and Italian, which they were encouraged to continue at GCSE in order to keep their options open, and to consider taking up Mandarin Chinese.
The Careers event was attended by more than 1600 local 12 and 13 year olds.
