Doctorate in Clinical Psychology

The Doctorate in Clinical Psychology is a fully funded programme of full or part time study while employed as a Trainee Clinical Psychologist within the NHS, leading to registration with the HCPC.

We would like to apologise for the sharing of our Decolonising Tool. In 2020, a group of trainees were tasked with considering how the programme could decolonise our curriculum as part of an assignment on the course. What resulted was the beginnings of a template tool, titled ‘Decolonising the Curriculum: Promoting Cultural Humility’.

Public participation in all aspects of programme activity is a core value for the Lancaster DClinPsy Programme. Our approach to involvement in selections has been highlighted as an example of good practice in the recently updated British Psychological Society guidance on training and consolidation of clinical practice in relation to adults with intellectual disabilities.

Lancashire Emotional Health in Schools and Colleges team funding extended to July 2022

The Lancashire Emotional Health in Schools and Colleges team offers training and support to staff from all primary and secondary schools and colleges in Lancashire on a range of topics relating to children's mental health. The team is based at Lancaster University within the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology programme, and has been funded by Lancashire County Council since 2014.

Lancaster DClinPsy Anti-Racism stance

Following events within the training community, the profession, the murder of George Floyd and the work of the Black Lives Matter movement, the last 12 months have seen the Lancaster DClinPsy begin to focus on addressing structural, and individual, experiences of racism within the programme and clinical psychology as a profession. We acknowledge this work is overdue, and we recognise the work of many people who have been highlighting institutional racism for many, many years.
