What we would like our service team to do:

  • To transport riders and equipment to and from event and along the route.

  • Help with repairs to equipment and first aid if needed to riders.
  • Take lots of nice pictures !!
  • To be at designated checkpoints

Food & Equipment

Bikes:

  • You can do the challenge on a racing bike - there are 3 miles of rough sections. It depends how much you value your racing bike!!

  • If you are doing it on a mountain bike I suggest you have slick tyres put on, as rough tyres will give too much drag and make it very hard.

  • You will also need a bottle cage.

Transport:

  • We will allocate the minibuses and transit vans for you,and where possible we will load the bikes up the night before.

  • When loading the bikes, I suggest you bring some  packing material to stop your bike being damaged.  Any suggestions on how we should do this?

  • We intend to set off at 6am sharp, and hopefully arrive at Whitehaven at 8:30.

  • On return, we will have hopefully finished by 5 or 6 and depending whether we stop for a bite to eat arrive at approx 8pm.

Equipment Required:

  • Bike

  • Waterproofs (hopefully not needed)

  • Sun cream

  • Cycling gear

  • Sleeping bag

  • Insect Repellent

  • Tent (& equipment) if camping

  • Overnight bag (towel, smelly stuff)

  • Plenty of cream for your bums!!! (I use Dakatrin)

  • 2 Drinking bottles

  • Mobile phone.

  • Camera for plenty off nice pictures.

  • Money for Lunches

  • Most importantly a big smiley face, especially for going up the hills.

Food:

  • You can bring your own food and the service team will hand it out when required.

  • Or bring some money as there will be plenty of places to stop along the route.

  • We will have to decide whether we stop for a evening meal on the way back or just go straight home.

Drink:

  • We will give out water or electrolyte energy drinks.

  • I suggest you try the SIS electrolyte energy drink to make sure it agrees with you.

  • Bring 2 bottles with marks on for mixing powder(labelled with your name) - one so service team can mix it whilst your riding and one for the bike.

  • If you want your own drinks just bring them along and the service team will give
