Contemporary Blockchain Technology: A Survey

There is a need to learn more about blockchain technology, because it offers a lot of benefits. This is a revolutionary technology that can be seen to slowly take over various sectors in the industry. However, the information on blockchain is broad and scattered

The goals of this paper are to, review current blockchain technology in terms of; implementation technologies, applications of blockchain technology, and some limitations. Along with inspiring others to delve into innovative blockchain technology developments

In this paper, the evolution of blockchain will be discussed, along with how the technology works. Followed by the main implementations of blockchain, which includes; Ethereum, Hyperledger Fabric, R3 Corda, Ripple and Quorum. Moreover, the applications of blockchain will then be reviewed, focusing more on the healthcare and education sectors. Finally, some limitations of the technology will be addressed.
