Thiago Allis has been awarded the John Urry Fellowship for 2018-9. Thiago holds a PhD in Architecture and Urban Planning from the University of São Paulo (USP) and he is assistant professor on Leisure and Tourism, at School of Arts, Sciences and Humanities (EACH), at University of São Paulo (Brazil). His main scholar and research interests include urban tourism, regional and urban planning and tourism mobilities. In his research projects over the last few years, he has sought to converge reflections on tourism and mobilities in the perspective of the social sciences (under the umbrella of the New Mobilities Paradigm), aiming to build new understandings on tourism as a mobile phenomenon. Currently supervises postgraduate students, combining various aspects of mobility and tourism (automobility and history, urban mobility, leisure and tourism, and migration and tourism).
