Formal equality and substantial equality: the situation of handicapped people in Venezuela and Canada (poster presentation)

Gustavo García Chacón, Universidad Católica Andrés Bello

Abstract

In this work we describe the situation of handicapped people, in addition to some practices directed to their integration in Canada, specifically in the province of Ontario, with the intention that such practices become a valuable reference for the changes that are required in Venezuela in this regard. We shows the differences between these countries, offering comparisons of the characteristics of the population with disabilities, in addition to the institutional structure and the public and practical policies directed to the inclusion of these individuals in each country, specially in the labor dimension. The idea is to show the differences between the concepts of formal equality and substantial equality through the revision of these cases.
