[M.203L] [M.203] St Marks. Southern Portico. 203
between the shafts are given at p 1 w {and 2 w} St M. At 1 w is
the shaft d; at 2 w the shaft c, with d seen in
outline on its left. The fillets on d are cut an inch
deep down from its simple bell: whose contour is
given more truly at fig 2. The rise of the zigzag on
the angle is true: (perhaps necessary if it has to be
kept on same level): The pure section of the whole at
p 6 at the other end of the book St M.
Now the joint at p 6 marks the separation between
the real capitals and the plinth, a b; which is a great
flat table laid on the top of the whole five: A crack
is seen through the middle of it at 2 w for a sufficient
reason.
