The moulding is noble for size, but hard in its useless
central cavette K and it is excessively ungraceful when
it meets in the apex of the arch - especially the two
great rolls - A it is easy to conjecture the resemblance
which these suggest as they approach each other: I
imagine the whole is late work: of the date, whatever
that may be, of the interior arcade of the second story
on the three sides most aged of the place count: I think
I see the same style in the leaf work of the capital drawn
A at p 83 (By the bye, observe how in this leaf - and
many more - exquisite effect is produced by a rib emergent
from a hollow; and compare this with the h man spine)
and the arch section of that pointed arch arcade
is the same - only bolder than even this and better applie
and the rolls, instead of coinciding fall separately on
abacus - Fig 1 No 65 is a rude approximation to the arch
section - a b of course soffit and moulding same on both
niches - Some of the piers are solid, of the singular
