the beaked bird walnut like angle is assuredly less
than a rt L. Others of the piers are four shafts about
a central one: All grand in the highest degree, and
their capitals mighty, and magnificently fused together:
Florid with heads mixed - I cannot guess their time -
the heads are large and ugly, and not so delicate in
cutting as those of the outside capitals: Fig 3 is the
section of that of the five shafts - fig 4 of the bottom
of that of the solid pier: abaci and flower work alike;
fig 5 the base of all - I never saw so flat a one,
worked with exquisite shield decorated leaves like the
outside ones.
But - to return to the upper windows of Canal towards
bridge of sighs: Anove are described the group furthest
from the sea - next to these is another similar group ) x0
and then come two, attached: still of the[ord] order - but
I am wrong, - this arrangement is with a different section and a dentil external instead of[o]
and the group first described is a roll. These are mostly described on No 85 the section o
the triple one: their jamb and archivolt is the same; it begins at A
fig 2 No 85, real size carefully set by the stone.
