[No.84] [RL 1636 box] [part] [square format] Windows of 3rd order. the noble pair next the sea. In these - while all the rest is of [?] - the central [?] detached shaft is or red marble. - which . has its old base. the raised plinth & nothing more. [diagram] ie. the effect very fine and solid and its bell at the top is joint [diagram] and nothing more - roll Lombard leaves. round like the others. only in this window it is plainly seen that the section was same inside and out. and in the jamb towards sea. a bit of the point of the leaf of the inner capital and this much of the jamb inside is left. the rest having all dashed away. with the innermost Lombard shaft - to fit in the modern windowframes of the library room. and this evidently not long ago. [diagram] joint the joint through the cavetto is in the jamb only not in the capital Section of capital same as in No 85. Base, only the raised plinth - running round the section tracery ___ as here shown. The central Lombard capital is completely changed with a deposit formed in shelly coats from the brickwork above. No 64. and page 84 Observe - I have examined on the other paper ^ only the pairs of windows like this farthest from sea - which have lost their basic plinth - there is an intermediate [?] between these latter and No 85. which have their basic plinth perfect - like those nearest sea: and these perhaps have also some fragments of inside moulding. I could not see to day. No 84. p. 85. Done.
