The Brera Gallery (Pinacoteca di Brera) in Milan was founded in 1809 by Napoleon, and is one of Italy 's largest galleries. Housed in a seventeenth-century palace designed by Francesco Maria Ricchini, this collection is particularly strong in paintings of the Venetian school. It includes works by Giovanni Bellini, Carpaccio, Guercino, Leonardo da Vinci, Luini, Mantegna, Procaccini, Raphael (Raffaelle), Salvator Rosa and Titian.
