Annotations

The annotations contributors were trained in hypertext writing by the editor and the notes were then jointly edited by the editor and the consultant annotations editor.

Initially the editor determined a list of some 2,500 primary notes drawn from the third edition, that were categorized and distributed to the annotations contributors. The importance of organic development in the construction of secondary notes was central to the rationale behind this edition.

The later delivery of the collations has meant that as yet the annotations contributors have not been able to address fully the implications of Ruskin 's revisions over time or indeed the variations between the first and the third editions (see a later release).

The picture research has provided over three hundred images that are accessible through the annotations.
