Germ 216, Early German Cinema Course Home | Schedule | Course Material | Assessments | Course Links Course descriptionA description in words!
Aims of the courseStudents will learn about the history of early cinema and be made familiar with a survey of German film of the period 1900-1945 (the set films themselves range from 1913-1936). In addition to learning about the appropriate technical developments in cinema art, you will read and generate your own historical and analytical accounts of the set films. Members of the course should be able to follow the analyses given by a range of secondary sources (particularly but not only the set text) and will be in a position to express their own opinions and readings of a number of set films (via student presentations and cwa essays). Additionally, students will be encouraged to compare treatment of themes and techniques within the body of films studied and in the medium of film more generally. Course Schedule
