Every year Medieval English Theatre runs a conference meeting around the last Saturday in March, each time at a different venue and on a different topic in the study of early theatre.

The format varies, but usually consists of brief papers followed by informal discussion. Practical workshops and performances are often included. Papers delivered at the meeting may be invited for consideration for publication in the journal. Members of the Society are automatically on the mailing list for the meetings, and have a preferential attendance rate. We welcome postgraduate students and also non-members.

The 2019 meeting, celebrating 40 years of METh,
was on 12-13 April 2019 at the University of Fribourg, Switzerland,
hosted by Elisabeth Dutton and Liv Robinson.
The theme was Peoples and Places: Networks, Communities, and Early Theatre.
It was preceded on Thursday 11 April
by the EEDPN Postgraduate and Early Career Symposium.
The 2020 Meeting will be at the University of Wolverhampton, hosted by Daisy Black, on the topic of Consumption. More information to follow.

An archive of past meetings and their themes, with programmes from 2002 onwards, can be found via the drop-down menu above.
