Paolo De Stefani is lecturer in International Human Rights Law at the University of Padova (Italy). His research interests and areas of scholarship include international criminal law, children’s rights in international law, human rights and emergencies.

He is currently National director for Italy of the European master’s degree in Human Rights and Democratization (Venice), academic coordinator of the master’s degree in Human Rights and Multi-level Governance at the University of Padova, member of the academic board of the international joint PhD in Human Rights, Society and Multi-level Governance (Universities of Padova, Zagreb, Panteion-Athens and Western Sydney). He is member of the governing bodies of the Padova University Human Rights Centre and of the European Inter-University Center for Human Rights and Democratisation. Current research areas are: ethical and legal issues in using social media in emergency situations; compliance approach vs multi-level governance approach in human rights implementation processes: The role of national human rights institutions.

He has been consultant at the regional children’s ombudsman office of Veneto and advisor for local and international NGOs on human rights related issues.
