This meeting is a unique opportunity to bring together everyone in the North West with an interest in dementia - staff and volunteers of dementia associations, people living with dementia, family members, clinicians, care professionals and scientists - to share and learn from one another.

The day will start at 10:00am with a wide variety of talks, held in two parallel sessions throughout the day. One of the sessions will focus on updates in research and medical initiatives, the other on living well with dementia. These short informative talks will last 25 minutes allowing 5 minutes for questions, the day will conclude with a panel discussion chaired by BBC Radio Lancashire's John Gillmore.

Speakers include Gary Rycroft, Partner, Joseph A. Jones & Co. Solicitors, Chris Moore, Occupational Therapist, MAC Clinical Research, Lorraine Butterworth, Admiral Nurse, Royal British Legion, Professor Christine Milligan, Director for Centre for Ageing Research, Professor Chris McWilliam, Consultant Psychiatrist, MAC Clinical Research and Professor David Allsop, Neuroscientist, Defying Dementia.

The conference is to be chaired by Dr Penny Foulds, Lancaster University and MAC Clinical Research and Dianne Smith, Matron for Dementia, University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay Trust.

There will be activities for people living with dementia, including reminiscense workshops by Lancashire Memories, reminiscense therapy using iPads provided by Blackburn with Darwen Council Community Learning and colouring workshops with My Colourful Memories.

We will have a marketplace in the foyer, where there will be a wealth of supporting organisations to provide additional information and support.

Free parking is available behind the George Fox Building at visitor car parking area D (see here for the campus map). The event itself is free of charge.
