Amy Markland and Jacob O’Neil, currently studying their MA in History at Lancaster, attended the Heysham Viking Festival, 21-22 July. They write:

''The Heysham Viking Festival 2018 was an extremely successful event, combining the Regional Heritage Centre’s latest work with a vibrant celebration of Viking culture and re-enactment. We were able to speak with a wide range of members of the public, reaching people who may never have had any contact with the university before, promoting the latest exhibitions, events and educational opportunities provided by the RHC. In particular, we enjoyed the opportunity to discuss our interest in local Viking Age history in co-operation with other historians and archaeologists and to reveal aspects of their local history which people are often unaware of''.
