The laptop dispenser in the Learning Zone will be unable to loan out University laptops from 1.00pm on Saturday 16 November to 8.30am on Monday 18 November.
If you book out a laptop before 1.00pm on Saturday 16th, you will still be able to return it as normal at any time during your 3 hour loan period.
This is due to upgrades to the Library booking out system.

ISS is aware of some issues with accessing ISS Services from the new Mac operating system 'OSX 10.9 Mavericks'. We know the current version of Symantec Endpoint Protection does not work on OSX 10.9. Until most key software has been tested, and where appropriate patches installed, ISS advises users to delay upgrading to Mac OSX 10.9 Mavericks.more »

A number of Apple Mac users may be experiencing problems connecting to printers on campus. The issue appears to be with Mac software's inability to automatically find printers on the network. ISS staff are working with Apple to try to resolve the issues, and working on guidance for users to enable them to connect to the printers in a different way. Anyone experiencing problems should contact the ISS Service Desk who will be able to point you to potential solutions as soon as they are available.more »

The server for: IUS, MATLAB, GAUSS, Maple versions 10 to 13, IDL and ArcGIS failed due to hardware failure on the weekend (11/11/12). Due the the licence server unavailability, some of the software, including MATLAB, will not function. more »

There is an un-patched vulnerability in the Acrobat Reader PDF system that could allow infected PDFs to infect your PC with a damaging Trojan.

Friday 9th Nov - Mail delivery to AOL email addresses is now OK.
Due to a 'Trojan' infected PC sending out Spam to AOL addresses, the University has been blocked by AOL. Delays in outgoing mail to AOL are being experienced by users. Users will get an error message back if their email has not been delivered to an AOL address.
Users are reminded to be careful about clicking on unknown links in emails and opening/downloading attachments in suspect emails.more »

When you get emails purporting to come from a bank asking for your account details. They will be fakes. The student 'OffCampus Home', and the staff 'Home Working' pages have been merged into the new 'OffCampus Access' home page. The OffCampus Access page be configured to suit student and staff requirements. Click on the 'plus' sign next to the tools title and see an 'Add/remove tools' panel appear. New students will be asked to set up their IT Account and validate their PC or laptop for ResNet before they come to Lancaster at the start of the 2012/13 academic year. This will give the students access to IT resources (such as their University email) before coming to Lancaster, and access to the campus IT network and Internet as soon as they arrive. Information they receive via email will lead them through the process of pre-registration (in which they confirm specific personal information) then the setup of their IT Account and, where relevant, the validation of their PC or Laptop for ResNet. more »

Use of the University web proxy (web cache) is now optional. For a number of years, IT users on campus have had to use the web proxy in order to access web content from the Internet. Now, due to substantial investment in network security, ISS can recommend that users who administer their own computers stop using the web proxy.more »
Changes have been made to the 'lancaster' (open) wireless network to resolve recent connection and login issues. ISS recommends the use of the 'eduroam' (secure) wireless network for connecting to the University network. The lancaster wireless network is provided for devices which cannot connect to eduroam. more »
The Pure research information system upgrade originally scheduled for Wednesday 25th April will now take place today, Thursday 26th April. The system will be unavailable between 14:00 and 17:00. more »
On Tuesday 1st May ISS will be performing essential network maintenance in Bowland Main, Bailrigg House, Great Hall and Engineering A8 lab. Work will begin at 06:00 and will be complete by 08:30. During this time users will experience a short disruption to both their wired and wireless network connections. Users of the wireless network named 'Lancaster' may be experiencing very long log-in times (up to 90 seconds). Once logged in, users should be receiving normal performance. Microsoft has recently rolled out the latest version of Internet Explorer (IE9) as an update for Windows 7 users. If you are using IE9 you may experience problems when trying to save files from your browser. There have also been problems with using IE9 and the MyPGR application within LUVLE. We are working with Microsoft and IBM to resolve these issues, but in the meantime if you are using Windows 7 and experiencing problems you should use an alternative browser such as Firefox.
