More than 130 people from business and the health sector have visited a special showcase event that demonstrated Lancaster University’s expertise in health and medical science and technology.

The ‘Pathways to Health and Wealth’ event brought together academics and researchers from across the university’s faculties of Health and Medicine, Science and Technology and the Management School to explain to businesses and organisations how they can exploit Lancaster’s research excellence to enjoy economic growth.

Speakers at the event, which took place at Lancaster University Management School on March 31, included: Dr Mark Treherne, Chief Executive of the UKTI Life Science Investment Organisation; Dr Liz Mear, Chief Executive, North West Coast Academic Heath Science Network; and Professor Mark E. Smith, Vice-Chancellor of Lancaster University.

Lancaster University’s Becky Gordon, an organiser of the showcase, said: “This unique event showcased the huge range of health research and technological expertise within the different faculties and departments at Lancaster University.

“We have real high-quality specialist knowledge and talent within the university and this event was to explain to external businesses and organisations how they can work with us to harness that expertise to drive real economic benefits and advances in healthcare treatments.”
