Lancaster poet Professor Paul Farley will appear onstage alongside the musician Beck at the Barbican this weekend.

Professor Farley, of Lancaster University’s English and Creative Writing Department, will appear in Word Reader, a unique musical and spoken word event led by the musician Beck at the Barbican in London.

Paul Farley is an acclaimed poet, writer and broadcaster, whose collections include The Ice Age, Tramp in Flames and The Dark Film.

Professor Farley is among other leading British poets, such as Simon Armitage and Jemima Foxtrot, who will give readings as part of a performance by Beck and Thurston Moore, of Sonic Youth.

The event is part of a project called Station to Station: a 30 Day Happening, curated by LA multimedia artist Doug Aitken.

Doug Aitken’s 30-day project Station to Station is designed to be a platform for cross-disciplinary collaboration between artists, musicians and writers.
