Student Based Services
If you would like to access the additional disabilities support services available, please initially contact Katherine Thackeray Programme Administrator: email@example.com, who can advise you on the support available and the process in securing the support 01524 592970. You may also wish to discuss matters with your individual tutors.
Katherine will put you in touch with staff at the university's Student Based Services, who will be able to offer detailed advice and will offer you an assessment at their Assessment Centre. The purpose of an assessment is to identify study aids and strategies required to provide equal access to the curriculum. The Assessment Centre aims to offer you an appointment within 15 working days, although it may be longer during busy periods of the year. Katherine will liaise with Student Based Services and your funding body to cover the costs of the assessment. Most assessments take place at Lancaster University (for those that are arranged elsewhere, details will be provided in the appointment letter).
No tests are involved in the assessment. The Assessor records information about your educational history, how your disability affects your studies and any current support arrangements you may have. Your Assessor will explore different support options with you and together you will come to a conclusion about the study aids and strategies most appropriate to your needs.
For further information, please visit the Student Based Services' website:
Once the assessment has taken place and the report has been received by the programme, we will do all we can to follow the recommendations. The cost of suggested equipment will be negotiated with your funding body. We will also work within the LCFT frameworks and Trusts offering practice placements aim to support trainees in any way they can. Clinical tutors arrange practice placements and will work in partnership with any concerned trainee to find a placement to meet their learning needs in a supportive way.
Additionally, Peter Morgan, a DClinPsy trainee set up the Mindfulness Project , which you may find useful during your time on the course.
