Dr Machin, a Lecturer in Medical Ethics at Lancaster Medical School, has been researching cord blood banking in the UK since 2009 when she was a research fellow on an Economic and Social Research Council funded project at the University of York. She is social-science trained and has experience in researching hard-to-reach populations on sensitive topics, qualitative interviewing techniques, and qualitative data analysis.

メーチン博士は、ランカスター・メディカル・スクールで医療倫理の講師を務めており、2009年にヨーク大学で英国のEconomic and Social Research Councilから研究助成を受けて以来、英国におけるさい帯血バンクの研究に従事しています。 メーチン博士は、社会学の学位を持っており、いわゆる「センシティブ・トピック（触れにくいテーマ）」に関して、コンタクトをとることが容易ではないとされる人々を対象とする研究に従事してきています。また、質的調査におけるインタビューの技法や、質的データ分析に取り組んできました。

Dr Matsushige, is a Senior Research Fellow at the Institute of Public Health in Japan. He has undertaken medical sociology training, and his research interests lie predominately with lay and professional expertise. His PhD, which involved conducting qualitative interviews, has recently been published.

国立保健医療科学院にて主任研究官を務める松繁博士は、医療社会学を専門としています。松繁博士の主たる研究関心は、医療における「専門家」と「素人」の認識／考え方にあります。松繁博士の博士論文は、質的研究の手法を用いてとりまとめられ、2010年に出版されています。（『「患者中心の医療」という言説―患者の「知」の社会学』立教大学出版会／有斐閣）
