Negotiations with University Management

Lancaster UCU has remained steadfast in needing to address the issues of Fixed Term Contracts. Negotiations on Fixed Term Contracts originally commenced in 2011, stalled, began again, stalled but began afresh in early May, 2016 but then stalled as attempts to widen the scope of the negotiations to include zero-hour and all casualised contracts were disputed by the University. Negotiations commenced again in late 2018/early 2019 and now include the broader scope of all casualised contracts.

We're pleased to report that members are now (as of 4 September 2019) invited to consider the following draft policy on Fixed Term & Casual Contracts:

We think the draft policy represents a huge step forward for anti-casualisation at Lancaster, but we want your feedback on whether you think UCU should fully endorse the draft policy. The draft policy will be considered at the next General Meeting which will take place on Monday 23 September 2019 and all members are strongly encouraged to attend.
