Creative-Critical Writing

Research Activity

The Department’s researchers lead in the development of Creative-Critical writing through publications, projects and events.

Some of our events juxtapose the critical and creative (for example, Terry Eagleton alongside Paul Muldoon in May 2016); some explore the creative as the critical (for example, Paul Muldoon on ‘American Standard’ as a reading of Eliot in Jan 2020); and some fuse the critical and creative (for example, the ‘Critical Subject’ symposium in May 2018). We have also edited in the field (John Schad as co-editor of Beyond Criticism and Jenn Ashworth as co-editor of LUNE), and extended our work into creative non-fiction (Paul Farley’s Death of the Poets), visual art (Brian Baker’s work for Burning House Press), and theatre (John Schad’s work with collect-ifs).
