LICA Environmentally Friendly New Building

Date:6 March 2009

An environmentally friendly timber structure for the new LICA building has been given the go ahead. Timber frames use wood from sustainably managed forests, which significantly reduces the CO2 emissions of the project. The CO2 emissions resulting from the construction of a timber frame are just 1.4kg per square metre building areas as opposed to 19.3kg for steel (ore-based) frames (72.5% difference).
