Sin with Proto-type - DEADLINE APPROACHING>Proto-type'sWinter School 2010 beckons 15 risk-taking young makers to explore the deliciously immoral world of the Seven Deadly Sins. Revelling in Envy, Sloth, Pride, Wrath, Greed, Lust and Gluttony, participants will further their practice with the support of their oh-so-sinful host, Proto-type.A heady mixture of workshops, training sessions, new work development and social time, the Winter School will culminate in a confessional showing of short performance works borne out of our discoveries. The Winter School will be hosted at Proto-type's home, The Storey Creative Industries Centre in Lancaster and at the Nuffield Theatre Lancaster on the campus of Lancaster University.Proto-type company members will deliver a series of provocations to the participants around each of the sins to inspire group and individual work. They will also provide artistic and technological advice to support the pieces and will lead critical feedback / guidance sessions on developing your practice. This 4-day intensive promises to be a quick-fire descent into artistic decadence. The Proto-type Winter School is organised and run by Proto-type Theater with support from the Nuffield Theatre Lancaster and the Storey Creative Industries Centre.

Proto-type Theater is based in Lancaster, UK and Brooklyn, NY and we make original theater and media work that tours internationally. Our recent piece, Virtuoso (working title) is touring throughout the UKwhere it has been hailed as "an immensely satisfying piece of culture history" and as "an exhilarating theatrical experience" by Total Theatre. Whisper toured throughout the UK and to PS 122 in New York City where it was acclaimed as "an intriguing brush with altered reality... poetic. And the production flirts with the feel of a supernatural, psychological thriller." (New York Times). We create touring theatre/live art/media, conduct workshops and summer schools, and run networking events to create a stronger contemporary performance sector in the UK.
Proto-type Theater's new show - Third Person (redux) - will be premiered in the Nuffield Theatre, Tuesday 16th & Wednesday 17th February 2010 | http://www.nuffieldtheatre.com/events/detail.asp?eventIdentifier=20091027_16450137
