Dudley Knowles (Glasgow University) on Hegel's Philosophy of Right

In the Philosophy of Right, Hegel aims to integrate the insights of modern individualism concerning personal rights and moral freedom with elements of an ancient communitarianism whereby citizens find their moral values in the ethical communities they inhabit. In re-discovering and challenging Hegel's insights we shall be better placed to evaluate the conflict and tensions of individual life within the community.

Dudley Knowles has published a number of books including: 2002 Hegel and the Philosophy of Right, Routledge; 2001 Political Philosophy, Routledge/McGill University Press; 2009 Political Obligation: A Critical Introduction, Routledge.
