SMARTS project

A team from Lancaster University, led by Professor Guglielmo Lulli, is carrying out the SMART SECTOR project in collaboration with air navigation service providers, Eurocontrol, and academic and research institutions.

Funded by SESAR 3 Joint Undertaking under the European Union’s Connecting Europe Facility programme and UKRI, SMARTS SECTOR aims at delivering the right amount of capacity at the right moment and with maximum efficiency to better serve air traffic demand. Optimising airspace capacity is key to accommodating current and future air traffic while maintaining safety, improving efficiency, and reducing aviation’s environmental impact.
