On the department's climbing one place to 10th, Professor Andrey Lazarev, Head of Department said: “The latest result from CUG confirms our place as one of the top departments in mathematical sciences in the UK, both for teaching and research. I am particularly pleased with our scores on student satisfaction and graduate prospects as they prove the very high added value that the Department brings to its students.”
The department is also highly ranked by the Times and Sunday Times (9th) and Guardian (12th) university guides, as well as the QS World University Rankings.
Overall, Lancaster University is ranked ninth for the second year in a row.
The table is based on ten measures: student satisfaction, research quality, research intensity, entry standards, student: staff ratio; spending on academic services; spending on student facilities; good honours degrees achieved; graduate prospects and completion.
With a strong community of academics, support staff and students from around the world, the Department welcomes around 250 new students each year into a dynamic and challenging learning environment. The Department is committed to developing students’ full potential by listening to their motivations and receiving feedback, and this is reflected in the excellent scores obtained in the Complete University Guide league tables.
