The conference day will divide roughly into two halves, the first offering a range of short papers looking at performance questions raised by individual case-studies, the second considering broader theoretical questions raised by the discussion of medieval playing and its conventions. Speakers include John Marshall (Bristol), Sarah Carpenter (Edinburgh), Thomas Pettit (Odense), and Katie Normington (Royal Holloway, University of London). Over lunch there will be a workshop performance of a recently translated Shepherds Play directed by Elisabeth Dutton.
