Our research and its impact

A world-class reputation for excellence in educational research

Our research and its impact

The results of the 2014 Research Excellence Framework (REF) placed us in the top six research-intensive Education departments in the UK, with 78% of our research activity graded as world leading or internationally excellent and 92% of our academic staff submitted.

The Research Centres act as focal points to exchange, support and develop research but also enhance cross-departmental synergies in methodological approaches. Each Centre contributes to the Department's Seminar Series and holds other events.

Our research and its impact

We conduct theoretically-informed, methodologically rigorous and socially relevant research into education.
