Richard Baskerville of Georgia State University & Curtin University will present a seminar to the Department of Management Science

Abstract: The adoption of a platform presents innovators with a situation in which innovation occurs within the confines of resources and services available from the platform. This bounded-creativity setting limits on design possibilities; forcing designers to engage in a more intensive kind of creativity: creating innovative products that nevertheless operate as platform components.

Bio: Richard L. Baskerville is Regents’ Professor and Board of Advisors Professor of Information Systems at Georgia State University and Professor in the School of Information Systems at Curtin University, Perth, Australia. His research regards security of information systems, methods of information systems design and development, and the interaction of information systems and organizations. Baskerville is editor emeritus of the European Journal of Information Systems. He is a Chartered Engineer, and holds a BS summa cum laude University of Maryland, MSc and PhD London School of Economics, PhD (hc)University of Pretoria, and DSc (hc) Roskilde University.
