This is an outreach event as part of Campus in the City. Campus in the City is an exciting, interactive project which brings our world-class research and more to the city centre, as we move into St Nicholas Arcades for five weeks from 24th February 2018. We want to bring local people, academics and students closer together while bringing our research to life and sharing the opportunity to experience the relevance of this research for everyone.

The University’s outreach team will be showcasing the activities we run with local colleges and schools for a full day in the Campus in the City shop. Come along to experience the facilities we have and enjoy our ‘Research in a Box’.

‘Research in a Box’ provides schools with the opportunity to loan out cutting edge science equipment from Lancaster University to use in the classroom on a short-term basis. Participating schools will be able to book out boxes and will be provided with support in the form of handouts for students, handbooks for teachers, and online demonstration videos.

‘Research in a Box’ boxes are either physical or virtual boxes consisting of loanable resources aimed at GCSE or A-Level school students that fit in with the appropriate curriculum and at the same time showcase resources used by LU researchers. The boxes aim to inspire teachers and future researchers, as well as aiding the transition of pupils from school to University.

This event is free and open to all.
