College Trips

For information about day trips, please contact the College Manager via Teams, or email the day trip inbox

Each year we run dozens of trips to locations right across the UK. These trips normally leave campus on a Saturday or Sunday between 7–8am, with an extra stop to collect students living in town. We then travel by coach to reach our destination around opening time to spend an enjoyable day exploring new places and taking in the sights.

Our day trips are open to all Lancaster University students and staff (from any college), and their partners/children/guests.

Some of our favourite destinations include Conwy Castle, the Yorkshire Dales and the famous Chatsworth House.

We also regularly visit Stratford to celebrate Shakespeare’s birthday and the seaside town of Whitby for the Whitby Goth Festival. While at Whitby we visit the abbey made famous in Bram Stoker’s Dracula.

For students who enjoy a more metropolitan experience, we also organise trips to big cities including Liverpool, Manchester and Birmingham.

In December we also organise trips to Christmas markets, including Durham and York, as well as trips to the Metrocentre in Gateshead.

Students can find information on upcoming trips on the Facebook events page, and student news portal. Trip tickets are available via the Online Store a few weeks prior to each trip.

Day trips have re-started on a small scale (one coach per trip), with relatively short journey times and focussing on covid-friendly destinations with lots of opportunities to be outdoors.

For those of you who are not comfortable with the idea of travelling in person yet, virtual tours of popular places in the UK are available to inspire and educate you:
