I chose to study at LUMS because it has such a good reputation in the eyes of employers, and I knew that any Masters degree from there would set me apart from other graduates in this challenging job market.
I specifically chose the Management MSc programme as I feel it gives a great overview of all the principle disciplines of management, whilst allowing the opportunity to specialise in a particular area which interests you, and helps you towards your chosen career field. For instance, by choosing the Project Management pathway I will learn key skills relating to an academic specialism which I enjoy and which will help towards my future plan of working in a project management role.
The fact that you don’t have to choose this prior to starting the course allows you to make a more informed decision about exactly what you want to specialise in, and I think this is one the best things about the degree.
Having studied at Lancaster prior to the Masters programme I have a lot of experience of Lancaster and it is all positive. The academic teaching staff are all experts in their field, often actively taking part in research that is relevant to the topics you study in lectures, which means you really are receiving top class teaching. All staff are happy to help if you have any questions or worries and there is a great support system in place which you can utilise, should you need it. Everyone on the course is incredibly friendly and eager to learn, and Lancaster provides a great working environment, whilst also offering a plethora of opportunities for an enjoyable social life alongside the degree.
During my time here I have had some great experiences, both academic and social, and I truly believe that Lancaster University is a great place to study and provides students with numerous enjoyable and memorable moments pretty much every week!
After graduating from LUMS I want to work for a large organisation, preferably doing some form of project management role. Although I have a good grounding in business management I feel the Project Management Pathway, and the opportunities within that to complete a professional accreditation course over Easter, will be a major help to achieve such a role.
