Why did you choose to study at LUMS?

I chose to study at LUMS because it's a top 10 UK university with an amazing quality of teaching staff and facilities. Apart from that, the very positive experience of applying (with constant feedback and helpful communication) was another factor that made me select LUMS over other universities I contacted.

What was the best thing about your course?

Our course was very diverse in terms of nationalities and cultures. The way it was structured, with different teams that ensured seamless integration for every student provided for experiences and knowledge that far exceeded the boundaries of our course. A truly unique experience.

Did you do a project, placement or study abroad? What did this involve and what did you gain?

I did a project-based dissertation that revolved around a small digital marketing company. It was a good opportunity for me to get hands-on experience with SEM (Search Engine Marketing) as this was the area of expertise for that company. By focusing our project on SEM I discovered my interest in this field which later transformed into a full-time job.

Describe your time at LUMS in three words.

Friends, Fun, Fantastic.

What are your best memories of your time at Lancaster?

Many nice memories! The best ones are the awesome dinners that I had with friends, the endless nights that I spent having long conversations about any random topic there is, and also the multiple team-assignments that led to fun, stress, collaboration, and skills that are transferable in any field of work.

What are the best things about living in the Lancaster area?

It's a lovely, small, clean, welcoming city that offers almost everything a big city does but with some extras like amazing countryside just around the corner and a relaxing and calm environment whenever you need it.

Which parts of your Lancaster experience were the best preparation for your job?

The constant interaction in English and the many presentations that our course had were two things that have benefited me already. I have become more confident in my face-to-face interviews and this confidence can be the differentiating factor for actually getting the job you want. Apart from that, the multiple deadlines have helped me improve my time management and my multitasking skills, both valuable for my current job.

What impact has your Lancaster experience had on your career?

My MSc in Lancaster helped me redirect my career goals. My exposure to technology and new digital marketing practices made me shift to the field of SEM in which I am currently working.

Is there anything else about your LUMS experience that you'd like to share with us?

I was quite happy with the idea of studying at LUMS prior to actually going there. Now, I am delighted to say that my experiences far exceeded my most positive expectations.
