Why did you choose to study at LUMS?

I decided to study at LUMS because of its high reputation, backed up by its multiple accreditations.

What was the best thing about your course?

As soon as I read the programme structure I knew I wanted to study my course at Lancaster. Its content had a perfect mix of theory and application to business.

Did you do a project, placement or study abroad? What did this involve and what did you gain?

I did an industry project for my dissertation at a software company in Germany. This involved applying the concepts learned during the lectures into real-world problems. Besides having the opportunity to get a glance on how a job in the field might look like, the experience of being in another country and getting to know the culture was unique.

Describe your time at LUMS in three words.

Exciting, Enlightening, Life-changing.

What are your best memories of your time at Lancaster?

I must say that the best memories come from the social aspect of being in such a multi-cultural place as Lancaster University. This experience gave me the opportunity of meeting amazing people that have been a great support during good and bad times.

Which parts of your Lancaster experience were the best preparation for your job?

The industry project I did for my dissertation was the best preparation for my current job. Sharing the workplace with people from different cultures helped me understand different points of view on how to solve a problem. Also, the fast-paced environment helped me become more organised and told me how to prioritise the workload.

What impact has your Lancaster experience had on your career?

Doing MSc Business Analytics at Lancaster University had a massive impact in my career. While I was working in Peru, I knew that I wanted to work in a role where I could give business advice based on data analysis; however, given my background in mechatronics engineering, it was tough getting a job specifically in that field. Now that I have concluded my studies, I got the opportunity to work in such a renowned company doing what I love.

Is there anything else about your LUMS experience that you'd like to share with us?

My experience at Lancaster University has been life-changing. Thanks to it, I met amazing people and got a job doing what I am passionate about.
