Research Overview

My area of interest is Work-based Learning which differs in many respects from traditional academic provision, for example in terms of student profile, needs, expectations, multiple stakeholder involvement and pedagogy. I am interested in how to design new models of higher education to meet the needs of Work-based learners and their employers. This includes how to take account of individuals' prior learning and experience and to develop customised programmes rather than a predefined curriculum. I am interested in how to transfer learning into practice so that development programmes support people to address practice requirements directly, with benefits for the individual and their organisation.
