Country of origin: Germany
Senior Consultant, Deloitte (Germany)
Before joining the MSc in Quantitative Finance I studied International Management at a private institution in Germany. I was attracted to the programme by the good reputation of Lancaster University in Germany and the study content. In my case the combination of mathematical, financial and programming skills was a perfect fit in what I was looking for to prepare myself for a career in banking.
The programme was a great combination of studying, networking and enjoying student life. In terms of academic benefits, I was equipped with the essential skills to start a successful career in the financial industry. In terms of social strengths, I have made friends for life who come from all parts of the world and whom I can contact at any time.
I made use of the many facilities at Lancaster University and engaged with different activities. I joined LUIFS (Lancaster University Investment and Finance Society) which organizes various career events throughout the year. In order to have a balance between academic and social duties, I also participated in the graduate college football team and took over captaincy for the second half of my studies.
After graduating from Lancaster University Management School I started as a consultant for Capital Markets and Asset Management at Deloitte Consulting Germany. After my first project I can confidently say that studying in Lancaster provided me with the technical and analytical skills that are really needed in business situations. I felt well-equipped and prepared for my work life.
